Romance between an Oxbridge man and a young lady is terminated when he attempts to cut off a lock of her hair in his sleep. He strikes up an acquaintance with the lady's sister without luck until he tries to cut a lock again and is shot for his pains. Odd; narrated by the independently-minded sister. (PB)
