Nadine McDonald was Artistic Director of Kooemba Jdarra Indigenous Performing Arts Company from 2001 to 2004. An active member of the National Indigenous Theatre Alliance BLAKstage, she has lobbied for Indigenous artists through her role on the boards of such organisations as the Queensland Theatre Company, Queensland Government's Premier's Indigenous Advisory Board, Queensland Community Arts Network, Contact Youth Incorporated, and the National Performance Conference.
In 2009, McDonald was Program Coordinator of the Kuril Dhagun Indigenous Knowledge Centre, State Library of Queensland (a position that she left in 2015, after ten years with the library), and also a member of the Queensland Government's Q150 Advisory Committee. Since leaving the state library, she has worked with the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, including as a producer for the community and families program. In 2018, her co-authored play, The Longest Minute, was produced as QPAC.
