1 Fire in the Head Rosemary Johns , 2022 single work drama

'The untold story of Ned Kelly’s remarkable sister Kate, tragic and heroic.

'Fire in the Head is contemporary spoken word in a bold, moving tale set deep in the Australian landscape showing Kate Kelly investigating hers and others lives in a haunting and lyrical style. She meets her own death in the shape of a young man.

'Fire in the Head is very relevant today- the project explores contemporary issues such as violence against women, and disparity of justice which are embedded in her volatile and intriguing story.

'It also challenges the masculine perspective of the Kelly story, that only her notorious brothers were significant players in the legend.'

'In the horrors of WW1, mechanized war marks the end of an era. Sandy is the only Australian horse to come home from the First World War, spending his final days in the Maribyrnong remount depot. His unknown story is told through the Major General mortally wounded at Gallipoli, a veterinarian on the Western Front, and the groom who brings Sandy home. Each strangely affected by their symbiotic relationship with the horse. The brutality of war and the heroic lives of men and horses that served are captured through physical performance and unique poetic theatricality with a haunting, original sound design.'
