BiographyHistory

James McGlashan was a successful Dublin bookseller and publisher whose business was sold in 1856 due to his poor health, to Michael Henry Gill, printer at Trinity College, Dublin. Under the name McGlasham and Gill, the business, which printed most of its own publications, expanded as a general publisher. The firm became M. H. Gill and Son in 1876, when Gill's son Henry Joseph became a partner.
