Wild and Woolley was established by Michael Wilding and Pat Woolley (qq.v.) in 1974 as a 'risk-taking publishing house'. In the 1970s and 1980s, the company grew substantially and developed its own distribution business, AllBooks. During this time it continued to promote 'new and important works of literature and politics' and became the Australian agents for the international presses Black Sparrow, City Lights and New Directions.
'In 1991, Wild and Woolley developed the Fast Books system of short run book production which caters to authors who self-publish quality paperback books.' (Source: http://www.fastbooks.com.au/WW.history.html)
