BiographyHistory

John a linguistic anthropologist, distinguished professor and Chair of Anthropology of UCSD. His work concentrated on Tzotzil (Mayan) speaking peasant cornfarmers of Zinacantan, Chiapas, Mexico, and on speakers of Guugu Yimithirr (Paman), at the Hopevale Aboriginal Community, near Cooktown, in northern Queensland, Australia.
