BiographyHistory

Brothers Samuel and Septimus Frearson arrived in Adelaide in 1853 as children. Samuel established a bookshop in Rundle Street around 1868, and Septimus joined him in a printing, publishing, bookselling and stationery partnership known as Frearson and Brother.

Known for their coloured lithographs, among other things the Frearsons published maps and almanacs, and a variety of illustrated newspapers and journals for general readership. These included Frearsons Weekly (1878-1884), the Illustrated Adelaide News (1875-1880) and the Pictorial Australian (1885-1895). Samuel Frearson died in Angaston, SA in 1897.
