BiographyHistory

Jane Hyde grew up in Brisbane and spent five years living in England before returning to Australia in 1978. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland and a Diploma of Library Studies from London. She has worked as a librarian and editor in Brisbane, London and Sydney, has worked for NSW government ministers and agencies, has taught writing and has been a corporate writer, editor and analyst specialising in planning and communications. She has written works on design for the disabled.

Hyde has written in the genres of short stories, screenplays, fiction and cultural commentary. Her play 'Absence' received a professional reading by the Queensland Theatre Company in 1998 and was equal second in the Colonial Bank/Stables theatre awards for playwrights in 1999.
