BiographyHistory

Pamela Bone grew up in Finley, New South Wales. She studied at the Bendigo Institute of Advanced Education in the 1970s and later worked for the Shepparton News. Bone joined the Age newspaper in Melbourne in 1982. She became associate editor and an opinion columnist with the Age, focussing particularly on human rights, and women's and children's issues.

Bone received the United Nations media peace prize and twice won the Melbourne Press Club award for best columnist.
