BiographyHistory

Ethyl Fielding was the founder, with her husband, George Fielding, of the Australian Poetry Lovers' Society in November 1934. Membership of the Society included, at various times, John Shaw Neilson, Myra Morris, Bernard O'Dowd and Marie Pitt. She remained a member of the Society and official until she had a stroke in 1959. She died in 1962. Harry Hastings Pearce (q.v.) wrote about her involvement in the Society in the The History of the Australian Poetry Lovers' Society (1973).
