BiographyHistory

The Australian Poetry Lovers' Society was founded in 1934 by George and Ethel Fielding (qq.v.) as a club for traditionalist poets and poetry lovers. It published a monthly newsletter, The Australian Poetry Lover (sometimes described as a little magazine), under the editorship of Harry Hastings Pearce from the early 1950s to 1973 whereupon the Society was incorporated into the Henry Lawson Memorial and Literary Society. The objects of the Society were to foster a love of and to assist in the publication of Australian poetry.
