BiographyHistory

Dr Roma "Nan" Winmar works in Indigenous education and the arts. Her work centres on promoting Noongar language and cultural activities. She hastranslated many children’s songs into Noongar, and contributed to the The Wirlomin Noongar Language and Stories Project

Roma was the language and cultural consultant on the play Yibiyung written by her daughter Dallas Winmar. Roma, under the name of Yibiyung, has worked with the Carrolup School of artists. (UWAP website)

Roma was Elder-in-Residence at Edith Cowan University in 2024. Roma is also an artist.
