BiographyHistory

Ricky Maynard is an Indigenous photographer from Tasmania, from the Ben Lomond and Cape Portland peoples. In the 1980s, he studied Photography at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies. During the 1985 Muttonbird season in Tasmania, Maynard visited and worked with the communities on Babel, Big Dog, and Trefoil Islands and took photos of the workers there for the project After 200 Years: Photographic Essays of Aboriginal and Islander Australia Today (1988).
