BiographyHistory

Ilma Lever contracted poliomyelitis at the age of two. In 1954 she founded the Victorian Disabled Motorists Association (now the Disabled Motorists Association). Lever also helped establish a garden (named the Ilma Lever Gardens) in Coburg for training disabled people in horticulture. In 1975 Lever received the British Empire Medal for services to the disabled.
