'When I was five years old, my older sister Barbara and I were taken from a sheep station called Mt Ester, near Ti Tree, and brought to Alice Springs. This happened in 1953 when the Assimilation Act was made for the removal of Aboriginal children in Australia. We were put in a home for Aboriginal children called St Mary's. It has taken my sister and me forty five years to find out what really happened to us because of this policy. We were in St Mary's until my dad managed to get us back with the family...' (Abstract)
