This subject immerses itself within Aboriginal Ways of Knowing, the Quality Teaching Framework and Aboriginal peoples/communities Ways of Behaving. This supportive subject will provide opportunities for students to engage in practical 'hands on' experiences. A major focus of the subject is a field trip to a significant Aboriginal 'place'. Students will experience Aboriginal Ways of Learning with 'Country' through an Elder. The excursion experience and the subject content will assist pre-service teachers to engage in and teach Aboriginal perspectives and utilising Aboriginal pedagogies. More importantly the subject will assist pre-service teachers in their understanding of and relationship with Country and Aboriginal people to ultimately develop skills to enhance the delivery of meaningful Aboriginal educational approaches for all students in our schools.
