Rajith Savanadasa left Sri Lanka in 2001 to study Engineering at RMIT University. His writing has appeared in The Key of Seas journal, The Island (Sri Lanka), Popmatter.com, Ondru and other print and online publications. He has been shortlisted for the Asia-Europe Foundation short story prize and the Fish Publishing short story prize (both 2013) and held a Wheeler Centre Hotdesk Fellowship (2014).
Savanadasa is the founder and primary contributor of Open City Stories, a website documenting the lives of a group of asylum seekers in Melbourne.
He debut novel, Ruins, was shortlisted for the ALS Gold Medal and the Readings Prixe for New Australian Fiction.
