A reader writes to criticise the column 'Cuentos de Don José : Hacer el yiro o las prostitutas' which appeared in the previous issue of Tabaré. The reader is concerned that the theme of prostitution is not suitable for a community magazine whose 400 readers include children and adolescents.
This letter to the editor is followed by the editor's response, taking exception to the reader's claim that the article has diminished the reputation of the Uruguayan Social Club.
The author mentions el Delta del Tigre, on the western edge of Montevideo, and refers to one of the columns by Montevideana titled 'Recuerdos de mi Uruguay' that appeared in Tabaré two years previously which also described el Delta del Tigre.
Among the wishes Don José makes for Christmas is the wish that his friend Ariel, who has been in prison for seven years, could be freed.
In this poem, Don José offers advice to someone who has no inclination to work: 'que se vaya a Argentina (please) si piensa que esta mejor' [go to Argentina (please) if you think it's better].
