In this second-year core subject, students will be introduced to key questions in the study of twentieth- and twenty-first-century narrative, including: what is narrative, what is text, what is aesthetic form and how does it shape narrative possibilities? Students will work with examples from fiction and non-fiction, including: realism, magical realism and anti-realism, and the autobiographic text. The subject will bridge literary studies and creative writing, enhancing the critical and creative skills of students' writing practices.
