Four inter-related plays for television, following the adventures of an English family who emigrate to Australia.
Two of the plays were made by the BBC in England, two by the ABC in Australia. The series as a whole has been credited to the BBC and the ABC combined; individual plays are credited to individual production companies.
'The April 1975 budget seems the final straw to Bill Parker. The family budget will have to be tightened yet again and even his job may be threatened. But where can he go that will be any different? And how can he convince his family that they should leave everything, behind and begin all over again in a new country?'
