'Tony Wakeford [is] a selfish and carefree youngster, eager to have all the advantages of membership of the new little surf club, Bungala, formed by his brother, Brian, but unwilling to accept its responsibilities. His transformation into a responsible and valuable member of the club is the story of the film.'

According to contemporary newspaper reports,
"Bungala Boys"' is the first Australian non-documentary feature film to be made in wide-screen color which has surf clubs and surf club members as the theme of its story.
