    • the text of a lecture, delivered by the Rev. James Conway, to the 18 May 1686 meeting of the St Patrick's Christian Doctrine Confraternity Literary Improvement Society. The lecture, which includes poetry quotations, was titled 'Ireland, its place among the nations of the earth' (pp. 8-10)
    • a report on the productions offered by the Lyster Opera Troupe a the Prince of Wales Opera House, a brief comment on the performances of Under the Gaslight at the Victoria Theatre, and a short note on the American Civil War diorama on display at the Sydney Mechanic's School of Arts (p. 15)
