The correspondent complains to Joseph Wyatt, the proprietor of the Royal Victoria Theatre, of the depreciation 'of the value of proper tickets' at the benefit night for Philip John Deane. Deane 'immediately offered to refund the disputed two shillings ... after the overture which was about to commence was over. The money was rejected, and so the matter rested.'
Advertisement for the benefit performance for Mrs Arabin (Frances Mackay) and Messrs Lane and Hollis at the Royal Victoria Theatre, Sydney, to include 'the Drama entitled Lear of Private Life' and 'the Burletta called Cupid'.
