Aboriginal legends all over Australia are recorded in what is called mythology... The Adnjamathanha people living in the Flinders Ranges, north from Nepabunna, Leigh Creek, Copley, Beltana, Hawker, Quorn and Port Augusta still tell and respect the stories related to their particular mythologies.' This article includes two myths, one is about two heroes call Vadlu Billa who travelled down the eastern side of the Flinders. The other is about the kingfisher and initiation. This story tells how giant serpents, called Arkuru, following a legendary kingfisher created many of the creeks, hills and gorges in the Flinders Ranges.
