A column noting that the Royal Victoria Theatre 'has been taken for a dramatic season and is to be opened on Boxing night, under the management of Mr. Lionel Harding, with Miss Rosa Cooper as directress ... The pieces billed for the opening night are: the spectacular drama the Misletoe Bough [sic] and an extravaganza, expressly localised for this theatre, entitled the Nymphs of the Botany Swamps.'

A review of the 30 December 1868 Royal Victoria Theatre production of The Poacher's Wife. The review also notes: 'The entertainments were concluded by a most excellent burlesque, full of local hits of great humour, in which Miss Rosa Cooper as Sir Rupert, and Mr. Andrews as Seneschal were highly successful.' The burlesque referred to is Nymph of the Botany Swamps; or, The Knight and the Naiad.

The writer concludes: 'The theatre has been very handsomely decorated, and the scenery and appliances are in every way perfect. The management may anticipate a very successful season.'
