John Fletcher's Rule a Wife and Have a Wife is included in AustLit because it was produced in Australian theatres during the colonial era.

A review in the Sydney Gazette (19 May 1838): 2 of the performance of the play at the Royal Victoria Theatre, Sydney, in May 1838 describes the play as 'Beaumont and Fletcher's celebrated and once popular comedy ...'. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography notes that the play was written by Fletcher after Francis Beaumont's death.
