Editor's note: Through an unfortunate transposition of the type in the 'making up' of our last publication [16 January 1838], the leading article headed "The Patriotic Association," and an article headed "The Legal Profession," were rendered altogether unintelligible. In justice to ourselves, as well as to our readers, we have been compelled to republish both articles in our present number.
The articles are reprinted in the columns following the apology. The Australian of 23 January 1838 took the Sydney Gazette's editor to task over the repetition and an argument ensued in the next issues of both newspapers. Columns pertaining to this argument are indexed in AustLit but not the repeated articles.
