Australia's first science fiction and fantasy film convention, Cinecon, was held in Melbourne from 17-21 April, 1981. The Guest of Honour was the American dark fantasy writer, Robert Bloch. This article contains some insightful comments from Bloch about Australian fantasy films and the Australian film industry with broader application to Australian fantasy fiction.
