Lockeah Wapau tells the story of his father Francis 'Frank' Wapau. Lockeah's father drew on his cultural heritage and knowledge to craft hats and other goods to sell. In North Queensland, his father was known as 'the Hatman'. Lockeah credits his father with upholding Torres Strait Islander traditions on the mainland.

Jillian Boyd-Bowie presents an autobiographical account of her life, intertwined with poems. Jillian tells her story through her heritage, parents, her childhood, her experiences moving to and living on mainland Australia. She also explores personal growth through parenthood and Christianity.
