'Poetry has been Jeremy's vocation since he was 16 years old and he has followed its call throughout his life, inspired by his early childhood in the Hunter River valley. As a young graduate from Sydney University he travelled to India to study politics for three years and has often returned there. He has also lived in England and Greece.
Most of the poems in this book were written in the region of Braidwood NSW where Jeremy has lived with his wife Catherine since 2004. His unpublished collections include The Smooth Stone, Homecoming, The Maker’s Dream, How the Bay Sings, Beyond Silence, Poems of Decay and Hope, Transmutations, Decades, Still the Bay Sings, and Little River Road. These are held in the archives of Sydney Grammar School where Jeremy taught for 28 years and was Head of the English Department from 1971 to 1989.' (Publication summary)
