Sydney poet Jeremy Nelson spent his childhood in Cessnock, a coal-mining town of the Hunter River Valley. He was educated at the University of Sydney and spent some years in Bengal as a young man. As well as publishing verse of his own, he has worked with Bengali poets and given the final shape to poems translated by the poets themselves.
Nelson has also lived in Greece and England and taught English at Sydney Grammar School.
The author of five selected works of poetry, Nelson also has several unpublished books, completed since 1994, lodged in the Sydney Grammar School Archives.
