BiographyHistory

John Encarnação was born in Sydney, the son of J. J. Encarnação. He is of Portuguese-Timorese and Romanian-Polish-Austrian heritage.

As well as works individually indexed on AustLit, he is the author of many works on music (including rock and punk) and music pedagogy, including the edited collection Teaching and Evaluating Music Performance at University: Beyond the Conservatory Model (with Diana Blom) and the monograph Punk Aesthetics and New Folk: Way Down the Old Plank Road.
