'Welcome to the June 2024 issue of the Journal of the Australian Library and Information Association (JALIA). This issue contains two research papers, two research-in-practice papers, an information-in-practice paper, an obituary, and ten book reviews. It is wonderful to have a range of paper types in JALIA including practice-based research and papers reporting on initiatives or projects in practice, along with full research papers.' 'Happy new year to all our readers, reviewers, and authors! We kick off 2023 with a rich issue consisting of diverse research papers that cover many aspects of Library and Information Science, including library history, library accessibility, library research and LIS education, and also a paper by a researcher and user of academic libraries detailing a complicated project about compiling sociology PhDs in Australia, which involved expert help from some amazing academic libraries and librarians. Finally, there is also a Research-in-Practice paper describing the use of social media by academic libraries in Australia. As always, we finish with twelve excellent book reviews that provide some reading guidance to our readers.' 'We are pleased to present the December issue of the Journal of the Australian Library and Information Association (JALIA). As usual, in this, the final issue for the year, we would like to warmly thank all our authors, peer and book reviewers, and readers. Without you we would not have a journal and your contributions in your various ways are greatly appreciated.' (Editorial introduction)

'We are pleased to present the June 2021 issue of the Journal of the Australian Library and Information Association (JALIA). This issue contains four research papers, two research-in-practice papers, one information-in-practice paper, an obituary, and twelve book reviews. One of the research papers (Singh, 2021) and one of the research-in-practice papers (De Leon, 2021) were from the Fifteenth Australasian Conference on Research Applications in Information and Library Studies (RAILS), held on 28th and 29th of October 2019, at St. Mark’s National Theological Centre in Canberra, and convened by the School of Information Studies of Charles Sturt University. These two papers unfortunately were unable to fit in the September 2020 RAILS special issue. We thank the authors of these papers for their forbearance in awaiting publication.' 'The papers in this third issue of JALIA range from those coming from a research perspective to those coming from a practice perspective, and some in between. With topics from archives to data management, from music to quality management, the papers demonstrate the remarkable scope of interests and approaches that our field has to offer.' (Gaby Haddow and Mary Anne Kennan , Editorial introduction)

'In the Journal’s first issue we published three types of papers: research, research-in-practice and information-in-practice, as well as an opinion article. In this second issue we have added to these with Research Student Project Summaries. The Editorial Board approved the inclusion of these Summaries in early April and members of the Board have begun to contact colleagues around Australia with information about the new submission type. It is great to see the six Summaries in this issue and we are hoping for many more as we promote the initiative to all library educators in Australia. The Research Summaries are designed to give research students the opportunity to disseminate their research to the LIS community and that this will lead to increased interest and engagement in the projects being carried out by new researchers. These first Summaries of projects ranging from perspectives on the use of prison libraries, academic libraries supporting research impact, public library service to people with invisible disability, googling, institutional repositories in Indonesia and the experience of information literacy by ageing Australians using mobile devices, demonstrate the fabulous array of topics that are being explored by research students.' 'Welcome to the first issue of the Journal of the Australian Library and Information Association (JALIA). With the merger of the Australian Library Journal (ALJ) and Australian Academic and Research Libraries (AARL) we make an explicit shift to a journal that will publish articles to foster wider information and knowledge sharing about innovative practice and research in our information professions.'
