History

The Age Book of the Year Awards were annual literary awards presented by Melbourne's The Age newspaper.  First presented in 1974, the awards were discontinued in 2013. 

The Book of the Year Award was then revived in 2021 through a partnership between The Age and Melbourne Writers' Festival: none of the other awards associated with the original awards were revived until 2022, when the non-fiction award was revived.
