History

This 1999 competition was sponsored by BHP through their 'Ribbons of Steel' sponsoring of the arts programs, to mark their closing down of steel-making in Newcastle. Newcastle City Council also helped with sponsorship. Selected entries in the competition were collected and published in the anthology Ribbons of Steel : Poems and Stories
