History

The Farmer's Poetry Prize was held every two years as part of the North Side Arts Festival, Sydney. The competition carried $420 in prize money with $250 for the 'Poets of all ages' section. There were sections for poets of all ages, poets under 25 and Australian school students under the age of 18. Winning entries were published in 'Poetry Australia'.   • Sponsored by the department store Grace Brothers and judged by the editors of Poetry Australia. The prize was one of Australia's largest for its time.
