An Australian Poetry Centre initiative, the Cafe Poets Program provides residencies in Australian regional and city cafes. Successful poets write poetry in a cafe at arranged times and act as ambassadors for the Australian Poetry Centre. The residencies have a public objective, such as self-publishing a series of poems, public readings or workshops, or writing a poem for the cafe, and a personal objective, such as completing a book or a series of poems, or working on a particular project. The residencies are open to financial members of the Australian Poetry Centre.
