History

'Provides a new writer from Regional Queensland with a three-week residency at the Varuna Writers’ Centre in the Blue Mountains.'

Notes

  • This is awarded each year to a new regional writer of prose (novels or short stories). Applicants must live in Queensland but outside the City of Brisbane and must not yet have a substantial body of work published. Applicants submit an excerpt of their work, to a maximum of 14,000 words, which is assessed by an independent judge. The Scholarship consists of a three-week writing retreat at Varuna Writers' Centre in the Blue Mountains, with return fares paid.
