The underworld of Australian clties Is no longer an unexplored field, and the spieler and the battler are no longer unknown to fame, for Con Drew has given them a place in literature. In Jinker he showed the reading public that he knew of haunts of the underworld to which they had never penetrated, and now in a new book, The Doings of Dave, he enables us to become better acquainted with the spielers of the race-course and the battlers of back streets...'
