Dedication: To three true friends, Mary Gilmore, (D.B.E.) Eileen Bernard, A. B. Crowther, I dedicate this small book of verse in token of affection
Author's Preface: These verses are just songs that have risen in my heart, inspired by the charm and beauty of Sydney and its peerless harbour, with the Bushland that I love so well....'Violets Down the Years', the first of the three pieces of prose included in this book, appeared in The Sydney Morning Herald (a newspaper to which I owe a tribute of thanks) on July the 8th, 1933, and is, in its way, the story of my life. The second piece describes the most beautiful hour that I have ever spent, hovering in the mail 'plane 'Memma', on a moonlight night, above the ethereal loveliness of Sydney.'
