The script held in the Crawford Collection in the AFI Research Collection contains the following character notes (excluding regular characters):

'AMBROSE McLAUGHLAN: 70's. A classic Australian bagman. A rather striking figure.

'BOB WILLIAMS: 40's. Big, rough bloke, but not unsympathetic. Bob thinks his son's a baby at sixteen.

'NICK WILLIAMS: 16. Extremely capable aorund the farm, but probably a bit young for his age in other ways. He thinks he's a man at sixteen.

'SHEARERS: Actuals.

      • The Crawford Collection includes one copy of this script, copied on blue paper, labelled 'Code: 12511', with two cover pages: an illustrated cover page and a second cover page with crew details and episode duration. A notation in blue ink in the top right-hand corner of the illustrated cover page reads 'Peter Schreck'.
      • There are no other signs of annotation on the script.
      • Both scripts (the official script and the dialogue-only script listed below) are labelled 'The Last Bagman'. The cast list is labelled 'The Last Swagman'.
      • The file also contains the following ancillary material:
        1. Cast list: a type-written cast list, with no confidential information.
        2. 10pp. copy of the script stripped to nothing but dialogue, copied on white paper.
