Script cover page (Crawford Collection at the AFI Research Collection)
      Extent: 70p.
      (Manuscript) assertion
      Note/s:
      • The script is labelled 'Episode no. 03469' on the cover page. There is no indication of to whom this copy of the script was designated.
      • The cover page also includes a list of the following crew members:

        Director: David Charles.

        First assistant director: Les Currie.

        Cameraman: Ken Ophel.

        Sound recordist: Peter Aarons.

        Continuity: Shirley Ballard.

        Make-up: Viv Mepham.

        Unit manager: Mick Mills.

        Production assistant: Helen Molnar.

        Floor manager: Laurie Levy.

      • The cover page also reflects the changing nature of production with the following note to 'all cast':

'WARDROBE: The following are not acceptable for colour transmission so please do NOT wear: -

'WHITE at all times on all garments.

'RED, MAROON, BLACK VELVET, PALE BLUE, PALE LIME GREEN.

'"BUSY" patters [sic] on all garments - STRIPES, HERRINGBONE, etc.'

      • The script is typed on thin white paper and annotated throughout with liquid paper. As with other scripts, the changes appear to be at a copy-editing level (see, for example, page 3, where 'GESTUREN' has been corrected to 'GESTURE'). In some cases, annotations in ink are discernable under the liquid paper (see, for example, page 49).

Unlike some other scripts, there is nothing in the way of substantial changes to dialogue or stage directions: the most substantial is page 69, where an unnecessary repetition of the stage direction 'HE SUDDENLY MAKES HIS MIND UP. HE MOVES FORWARD AND BRINGS THE RIFLE ACROSS' has been covered in a white sticker and replaced with 'THE SUDDENNESS OF THE ACTION ALMOST GIVES THE EMPLOYER A HEART ATTACK'.
      • The script is also annotated minimally in red ink between pages 33 and 35, but these annotations are symbols only (underlining, asterisks, and the like).
