  • Author's note: 'Augustus Lodge at the age of nineteen took part in the first landing at Anzac. He rapidly rose from private to Captain. At the age of twenty, he was made Adjutant and Captain of his old battalion and at Pozieres he was awarded the D.S.O. for conspicuous bravery.'
