AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The poem invokes characters of traditional and pre-Christian Polish mythology, many of whom, like the water nymph 'Świtezianka', feature in famous works of Romantic poetry by poets such as Adam Mickiewicz. The poem ends with a plea to these spirits and gods to bring the speaker's loved one home safely.
