  • Author's note: The above was written before the race, which I saw, but the tip did not quite come off. - Sheet Anchor 1, Grace Darling 2, Trenton 3, Nordenfeldt 4. It was a fine race and the proverbial sheet would have covered the necks of the four. Nordenfeldt, the Onyx colt just missed an opening and had to pull back. Mick O'Brien, who rode Sheet Anchor, told me he just got the opening and that was where he won. Robertson who rode Trenton dropped his whip so could not get the best out of his mount.

    Thus a grandson and granddaughter of Blair Athol beat two sons of Musket.
