Notes

  • Includes two poems, 'The Dream of Victoria' and 'The True Dream'. Poems indexed separately.
  • This 'Australian Pastoral 'begins in the following way: 'Being either very busy or very lazy, I dare say it matters not which to the reader, and being therefore unable to overtake a new pastoral, I had recourse to some old and neglected papers that comprised an Australian pastoral novel, written during the voyage from England, but incomplete, and since, as I have already hinted, thrown aside and forgotten.'

The 'Pastoral' included in The Illustrated Australian Magazine comprises a 'Preface' and 'Chapter 13'.
