AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'On Australia Day in 1938, Australia’s first major Aboriginal protest, the ‘Day of Mourning’ took place. "1938: An Opera" cunningly invents an alternative history where Aboriginal activist Marge Tucker teams up with Italian Anarchists and Chinese Communists to subvert a re-enactment of Governor Phillip’s landing, and courageously expose the brutality behind the White Australia Policy, all while singing and dancing!'
