A prospectus for a new journal to be titled 'The Satirist'.
The editor proposes to publish, 'beside the news of the day', 'anything forwarded to him ... for which he is to receive a percentage or premium, according to the pungency or acrimony of the production'. For this premium, the editor promises 'not to divulge the name of the author, and to bear all pains and penalties'.
The editor plans to engage 'the very best apartments in the gaol' and to continue his writing career from that place as 'it is a well known fact that many of our best books have been written in prisons'.
It appears that the editor's plans did not come to fruition. No evidence of 'The Satirist's publication has been found.
