The writer describes the final stage of his journey to the South Australian border, comprising 60 to 70 miles on horseback. He records his contact with indigenous peoples in the Cloncurry area and visits the caves at Camooweal. The article concludes with a detailed list of the flora and fauna found in the area.

— Appears in: The Cairns Post , 4 January 1890; (p. 2) Describes the first part of a journey overland from Cairns via Normanton and Cloncurry. The journey involved 36 miles by train and 250 miles by Cobb and Co. coach. The train from Normanton comprised an engine and two cattle trucks marked 'first class' and 'second class'.
