Slant was a fanzine established by Irish science fiction fan Walt Willis in collaboration with another fan, James White. When White acquired a reliable typewriter, Willis almost immediately
started producing fan fiction. This led in 1948 to him starting Slant, which was produced on a printing press with hand-set type. After Slant ended in the mid-1950s Willis went on to produce Hyphen with co-editor Chuck Harris.
